Kirk is a 5th-year PhD student from the Department of Biological Sciences. He received his Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. There, he worked in Dr. Sarah Keane's lab studying the structures of long, non-coding RNAs using solution NMR. Here in the McDermott lab at Columbia, Kirk is studying the oligomerization of the survival motor neuron (SMN) protein and its associated biology. Outside of lab, Kirk enjoys exploring the city with friends.
