Erick is a 3rd year PhD student in the Department of Chemistry. Originally from Indiana, he obtained his B.S. from Purdue University. There, he worked in total synthesis and later environmental chemistry with Alexander Laskin. His experience at Purdue with NMR spectroscopy led him to the McDermott lab where he works on solving the structure of FtsZ, manipulating linewidths in DNP spectra, and an apparatus to rapidly mix and freeze biological samples. Outside of lab, Erick spends his time as an amateur photographer, going to the gym, and cooking a myriad of dishes.
